Green List occupations, qualifications and skills

Find out about getting registered for your occupation, whether your skills are on our Green List, and whether your qualifications can be used in New Zealand.

  • Check if you need occupational registration for your job

In New Zealand you have to be registered with a specific organisation to work in some jobs. You must get your registration before you can apply for a visa to work in one of these roles. Check if you need to be registered for your job.

  • Green List roles - jobs we need people for in New Zealand

Search the Green List for roles we need workers for in New Zealand. If your role is listed, and you have the qualifications, registration or experience required, you may be able to apply for a residence visa immediately or after 2 years of working here.

  • Find your ANZSCO skill level

Check your occupation code and skill level on the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO).

  • ANZSCO occupations recognised at a higher skill level

Some occupations on the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) are recognised at a higher skill level for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV), Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa (SMC) and some temporary visas.

  • Check if you need an International Qualification Assessment

You may need to get an International Qualification Assessment (IQA) to show that your qualifications can be used in New Zealand.
