Create a welcome kit

Prepare a welcome kit for new workers from overseas, providing tips and information about working and living in New Zealand.

What to include in your welcome kit

Take the time to sit down with your new worker and go through a welcome kit and any questions they may have when they arrive.

To get started, you can use our template that helps employers provide AEWV workers with settlement information. You can also use your own document.

Your welcome kit could include information on:

Life in New Zealand

  • what happens when you arrive in New Zealand
  • language and culture — arts, sports and Māoritanga
  • climate — types of clothing needed for our weather
  • what to do in an emergency such as an earthquake.
