Changing visa work conditions for an RSE worker in New Zealand: process steps

If you are a Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE), there is a process if an RSE worker already in New Zealand needs to change employer, work location or employment dates.

How to change RSE Limited Visa work conditions

  1. 1

Step 1: Understand if an RSE worker's visa work conditions need to change

If the worker is already in New Zealand, the RSE Limited Visa work conditions that might change are their:

    • employer
    • location (region), or
    • employment dates.

You must get agreement from the worker about the suggested changes to their RSE Visa work conditions before you proceed.

  2. 2

Step 2: Apply for an Agreement to Recruit (ATR)

If the RSE worker is changing their visa work conditions but you will continue to be their employer, you must apply for an ATR.

If the RSE worker agrees to the changing work conditions, send the ATR to the RSE Unit.

If your worker is changing employers, the new employer must apply for the ATR to start the transfer process.

    Note

We must approve the new ATR before the RSE worker can apply for their new RSE Limited Visa.

  3. 3

Step 3: RSE worker applies for a new RSE Limited Visa

If the RSE worker is already in New Zealand and their current visa work conditions are changing, they need to apply for a new RSE Limited Visa.

The RSE worker can search for 'recognised seasonal employer limited visa' in our fees finder for the application cost and how long it takes to process.

Fees, decision times and where to apply

    The RSE worker must:

    • complete the application form
    • post the completed 'Application from an Onshore RSE Worker' form and supporting documents to the RSE Unit:

      Recognised Seasonal Employer Unit
      Immigration New Zealand
      PO Box 50728
      Porirua 5240

    Step 4: What happens next

If we have approved the ATR and the RSE Limited Visa application, we will issue the worker with a new visa.

The updated conditions will be added to the new visa.

The RSE worker can then start work under the new visa 'work conditions.
