Check if you need occupational registration for your job
In New Zealand you have to be registered with a specific organisation to work in some jobs. You must get your registration before you can apply for a visa to work in one of these roles. Check if you need to be registered for your job.
Getting occupational registration
To work in some jobs ('occupations') in New Zealand, you must first be registered with a specific organisation ('registration authority'). For example, if you are a nurse, you must get registration from the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
When you apply for a visa to work in these jobs, you will need proof that you are registered.
Use the following tool to check if you need registration. If you do, you should start the registration process as soon as possible.
Note
The requirements for registration can change. Contact the registration authority to find out what is needed.
The tool shows jobs that have registration authorities. You can search for your job or the name of the registration authority.
