Can I add my newborn child to my existing visa application?

Children may be eligible to be included in a visa application submitted by their parent. If you have a current visa application which has not been decided by Immigration New Zealand, you may be able to request for your child to be added to the application.

Temporary Visa applications

Your child may be eligible to be included in your Visitor Visa application. Note that secondary applicants cannot be included in a Student Visa or Work Visa application, however your dependants may be able to apply for their own visa based on yours.

To request for your child to be added to your Visitor Visa application, please provide the following documents to the branch processing your application:

  • a completed Additional Dependants for a Visitor Visa (INZ 1205) form
  • a cover letter requesting for the child to be added
  • an acceptable travel document
  • child's full birth certificate
  • two passport-sized photographs (paper application only)
  • digital passport photo (online application only)
  • a completed medical certificate (if required)
