Is email the preferred way to communicate with immigration officers?

As it is the fastest and most convenient way to communicate, immigration officers will use email to contact you (or the applicant) in most cases.

If the email requires a response that may impact the outcome of the application, the immigration officer may send an email and send a letter by post. Your timeframe for response starts from the date the email is sent.

If you have applied for your visa online, the immigration officer will upload any communication into your online account. Once they have done this they should also send you an email advising you to check your online account.

Please ensure you monitor your online account and your email address (as submitted in the application) for any updates.
