Help shape the future of refugee resettlement in New Zealand
Immigration New Zealand (INZ) is inviting former refugees and their families to take part in our first ever Refugee Survey.
The INZ Refugee Survey, which is open now until 10 December 2025, will help the Government better understand the experiences of people who have resettled in New Zealand through the refugee programme.
While we already collect data on things like employment and qualifications, there is currently no data that reflects the lived experiences of former refugees. We want to hear what is going well, what could be better, and what support would help shape future services and support for refugees in New Zealand.
The survey is open to former refugees and their family members aged 16 and older, who have settled in New Zealand within the last 5 years under the following categories:
- Refugee Quota
- Refugee Family Support Category
- Community Organisation Refugee Sponsorship
- Afghan evacuees and interpreters
- Convention refugees.
It focuses on 3 key areas:
- education
- employment
- participation in New Zealand life.
The survey is on the INZ website and is available in 13 different languages.
Your voice is important — the more former refugees and their family members who complete the survey, the more able we will be to improve the experience of future refugees. Spread the word and help us get as many people as possible to complete it.
Participation is voluntary and anonymous.
