National Refugee Resettlement Forum

The National Refugee Resettlement Forum is an annual event facilitated by the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment. The Forum provides refugee resettlement stakeholders with the opportunity to actively engage on strategic refugee resettlement issues. Government agencies, non-government organisations, service providers, former refugee communities and international organisations participate in the Forum.

The theme for the 2023 Forum was Meaningful Partnerships and Participation. The agenda was co-developed by a planning team consisting of former refugees with lived experience, including members of the New Zealand Refugee Advisory Panel, local Councils, service providers, NGOs, and staff from INZ’s Refugee and Migrant Support.

In 2024, the Forum will be held early August. It will build on the discussions started at the Forum 2023. The topics will include: meaningful refugee participation, empowering refugee youth, engaging with government and local innovations. The Forum is being co-developed with the New Zealand Refugee Advisory Panel and the New Zealand National Refugee Youth Council.
