Applying for a transit visa

Your transit visa will cover you for a single, 24-hour stay within a New Zealand terminal. It will also cover your partner, and any dependent children 19 years old and younger. Other children will have to apply for their own visa.

Steps to apply

Complete the Transit Visa Application (INZ 1019) PDF.

Attach the requested documentation and the correct fee, and send it to the Immigration New Zealand branch that can process your application.

You will not need to pay a fee if you are a national of one of the following Pacific countries:

Cook Islands Fiji Kiribati
Marshall Islands New Caledonia Nauru
Niue Samoa Soloman Islands
Tahiti Tokelau Tonga
Tuvalu Vanuatu

As you go through the process, tick off our checklist to make sure you've done everything.
