WG6.25 Applications for visas for FCFV crew members (16/10/2006)
  1. A visa or immigration officer may issue a work visa (see WG6.25.1 below) to an individual crew member with an offer of employment from a FCP that has a current Approval in Principle (AIP) if the applicant:
    1. meets the standard requirements for a temporary visa (see W2.10); and
    2. has at least twelve months work experience in a similar position; and
    3. has any other required qualifications and experience for the position as specified in the AIP; and
    4. holds an employment agreement which conforms to the Code of Practice on Foreign Fishing Crew including remuneration at no less than the minimum required remuneration (as specified at WG6.30 below); and
    5. has an undertaking of maintenance, accommodation, and repatriation from the employer's agent in New Zealand (or NZCP); and
    6. is covered by a deed of guarantee entered by an acceptable New Zealand party (see WG6.15.10).

WG6.25.1 Conditions of the work visa

Any work visa issued will be limited to work on the named FCFV and is current for the period of that vessel’s charter in New Zealand waters, up to a maximum of 24 months.
