BD9.60 Self-employment/ownership
- Self-employment is lawful full-time active involvement in the management and operation of a business which the principal applicant has purchased, or in which the principal applicant has made a substantial investment.
- Substantial investment is defined as the purchase of 25% or more of the ownership of a business.
- For the avoidance of doubt, self-employment does not include involvement of a passive or speculative nature.
- Self-employment in New Zealand must be while on a visa that permits self-employment.
