Parent Resident Visa Expression of Interest form

Use this form to submit an expression of interest (EOI) in being invited to apply for a Parent Resident Visa.

Note

How we select Parent Resident Visa expressions of interest (EOIs) changed on 5 October 2026. From 5 October, every year we will select approximately:

90% of EOIs based on the date order they were submitted
10% of EOIs based on a random ballot.

The first selection using this new model will be on 10 November 2026. The number of Parent Resident Visas we can approve each year and the visa criteria will not change.

2026 changes to the Parent Resident Visa EOI selection process

This form is for people who wish to express their interest in being invited to apply for a Parent Resident Visa. New Zealand citizen or resident sponsors may assist their parents to complete the form but should not complete this form for themselves.

Submit your EOI

To submit your EOI, complete the form, select 'submit' and pay the fee.

You must pay the fee when you submit your EOI. If you do not pay the fee within 7 days, your EOI will not be accepted and will not be available for selection. You will have to submit another EOI if you still want to be considered for selection.

Important information before you submit

Read this information carefully to avoid delays or unnecessary costs.

You can only have 1 active expression of interest (EOI) at any time.

You will need to confirm your interest every 2 years from the date you submit your EOI. You will have 6 months each time to do this. If you do not confirm your interest within the required timeframe, your EOI will expire and be removed from the pool.
If you are unsure if you already have an EOI in the pool, contact us before you submit a new EOI.

If you submit a new EOI while you already have an EOI, your new EOI will be removed before the next selection.

The EOI fee is non-refundable.

If you do not include your partner and your EOI is selected, you will not be able to include your partner in your application for residence. They will also not be eligible for New Zealand residence under the partnership category in the future. In some cases, you might also not be eligible for residence.
