BD2.20 Reserve funds

  1. In addition to nominated investment funds, principal applicants must demonstrate ownership of reserve funds of a minimum of NZ$500,000 in either funds or assets.
  2. Funds/assets may be owned either:
    1. solely by the principal applicant; or
    2. jointly by the principal applicant and partner and/or dependent children included in the application, provided a business immigration specialist is satisfied that the partner and/or dependent children meet the relevant requirements set out at E4.5.5 and E4.5.1 as applicable, in which case the principal applicant may claim the full value of such jointly owned funds or assets for assessment purposes; or
    3. jointly by the principal applicant and a person who is not included in the application, in which case the principal applicant must only claim the value of that portion of funds and/or assets for which they provide evidence of ownership.
  3. Evidence of reserve funds may include, but is not limited to:
    1. funds held in a New Zealand bank account(s); and/or
    2. funds held in an offshore bank account(s), together with evidence that the funds can be accessed from New Zealand; and/or
    3. acceptable evidence of net assets (either in New Zealand or offshore).
