A20.5 Definition and effect of an endorsement (29/11/2010)

  1. An endorsement is granted by being entered and retained in the records of the Department of Labour.
  2. An endorsement may (but need not) be evidenced by a physical endorsement in a passport.
  3. An endorsement is not a visa.
  4. An endorsement is current for the duration of the passport it is endorsed in.
  5. An endorsement is evidence of New Zealand citizenship for New Zealand citizens travelling to New Zealand on a foreign passport.
