V3.45 Applicants wanting to obtain occupational registration in New Zealand (06/07/2015)
- Applicants who seek entry to obtain New Zealand occupational registration may be granted a visitor visa or, in the case of a Philippines nurse, a work visa (see WS2(i)) provided that the relevant practical or educational training lasts less than 3 months.
- Applicants who have applied for residence while in New Zealand on a temporary visa and who need to exceed the maximum stay in New Zealand to meet registration requirements, may be granted a further visitor visa, provided that the practical or educational training lasts less than 3 months.
- If the training will take longer than 3 months, applicants must apply for a student visa and must provide satisfactory evidence of the time required to complete registration requirements.
- Applicants may be granted a visa to stay in New Zealand for longer than 3 months if they provide satisfactory evidence that doing so is necessary to complete registration requirements.
V3.45.1 Confirmation from registration body
Immigration officers must sight written confirmation from the appropriate registration body that the applicant:
- is eligible to undertake the registration process in New Zealand; and
- has completed any enrolment requirements, including meeting applicable English language requirements.
