WJ5.20 Foreign crew education

The New Zealand employer must:

  1. educate and inform foreign crew of their rights and obligations in respect of employment and immigration matters; and
  2. ensure all new foreign crew are briefed on their rights and responsibilities before their first voyage, and that they are provided with the minimum educational literature, translated into their own language (the minimum educational literature is the Important Information for Foreign Fishing Crews working in New Zealand Waters Guide (INZ 1214), available on the INZ website in 11 languages).
