E7.25 Special directions for temporary entry class visas granted for longer than provided for in immigration instructions (29/11/2010)

1. Temporary entry class visas granted for a longer time than provided for in immigration instructions (see E3.10) require a special direction under section 378 of the Immigration Act 2009 from an immigration officer with Schedule 1-3 delegations.
2. Posts without such officers should request a special direction under section 378 from an officer at another office who has the required delegated authority.
3. The decision whether to grant a special direction is in the absolute discretion of the Minister or immigration officer with Scheduled 1-3 delegations.
