C4.30.1 Evidence of identity to be supplied with application form

Immigration (Refugee Processing) Regulations 1999 reg 3(4)

1. When lodging the form Application for Refugee Status in New Zealand claimants must as far as reasonably possible supply evidence of their:
   1. identity (including a recent photograph of the claimant); and
   2. country of origin.
2. Evidence of identity may include, but is not limited to, the following:
   1. a travel document (e.g. a passport, certificate of identity or refugee travel document); or
   2. (if no travel document is available) a birth certificate or other identity document; or
   3. (if neither a travel document nor an identity document is available) a statutory declaration outlining the claimant's personal details.

C4.30.5 Claimant to provide all information relevant to claim

Immigration (Refugee Processing) Regulations 1999 reg 3(4)

1. A claimant must as soon as possible try to provide an officer with all information relevant to their claim, including a statement of the grounds for the claim.
2. The statement of the grounds for the claim must as far as reasonably possible include:
   1. any evidence supporting the fact or likelihood of persecution; and
   2. if available, documents indicating the alleged agent of persecution or potential persecution and the reason for that persecution; and
   3. details of persons (if any) who can be contacted to support or verify the claim.

C4.30.10 Other family members applying for refugee status

Immigration Act 1987 s 129G(3)
Immigration (Refugee Processing) Regulations 1999 Reg 3(5)

1. A claimant must as soon as possible try to indicate to an officer whether any other members of their immediate family who are in New Zealand are also seeking refugee status and, if so, whether any such claim is on different grounds.
2. If more than one person in a family group is claiming refugee status:
   1. each claimant must complete a separate Application for Refugee Status in New Zealand form; but
   2. all those claims should be lodged together.

C4.30.15 Claimant to provide current address

Immigration Act 1987 s 129G(4)

1. A claimant must provide an officer with:
   1. a current address in New Zealand at which they may be contacted; and
   2. a current residential address.
2. A claimant must notify the officer as soon as possible of a change in either of those addresses.
3. The officer may assume that the latest address so provided is correct.
