D4.1 Removal action
- Persons who are liable to removal may be removed from New Zealand following the service of a removal order.
- Immigration officers have the discretion to effect removal by having a person liable for removal:
- taken into custody by a Police officer; or
- monitoring the person's departure without having them taken into custody.
- Officers need to assess the most appropriate means of removal after having taken into account all the circumstances of the case.
