  are responsible on arrival for:ensuring all persons on board the  have the appropriate immigration documentation including:a valid passport or certificate of identity; anda visa (if required); andevidence of onward travel arrangements; andevidence of sufficient funds (if required); andany other documentation required by the Immigration Regulations 1999; and
preventing, by reasonable force if necessary, any person landing in New Zealand other than:at a ; orfor the purpose of complying with the responsibilities in Y2.1(a); and
providing, on demand by any immigration officer, any details about any persons on board the craft since its last port of call; andensuring, if the craft is unable to land at a Customs place, that all persons on board report to an immigration officer at a Customs place within 72 hours of arriving in New Zealand; andreporting, to an immigration officer as soon as practicable, the existence of any stowaway on board.
A carrier who fails to meet the responsibilities set out above commits an offence and may be prosecuted.
