- This is not current policy - |  WI4.110 Belgium Working Holiday Scheme (01/11/2004)This scheme allows 100 young citizens of Belgium annually to be issued with work visas authorising employment for a maximum of 12 months.To be eligible for a work visa under this scheme, applicants must:be a citizen of Belgium who is ordinarily resident in Belgium at the time of applying; andsatisfy an NZIS visa or immigration officer that his/her main intention for coming to New Zealand is to holiday, and that employment is an incidental reason for the visit; andbe aged between 18 and 30 years inclusive at the time of application; andnot be accompanied by children; andpossess a valid Belgian passport; andpossess a return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket; andsatisfy an NZIS visa or immigration officer that he/she possesses sufficient funds for maintenance during their stay in New Zealand; andbe of good health and character; andagree to hold medical and comprehensive hospitalisation insurance to remain in force throughout his/her stay in New Zealand; andhave not benefited from the scheme previously.
Participants in the Scheme must not:engage in permanent employment; orwork for the same employer for a period exceeding three months.
Participants in the Scheme may engage in one training or study course of up to three months duration during the course of their visit to New Zealand.
