WI4.45 Japan Working Holiday Scheme (04/07/2005)
  1. This scheme allows young citizens of Japan to be issued with multiple entry work visas, current for 12 months from the date of issue, authorising employment for a maximum of 12 months from the date of arrival.
  2. To be eligible for a work visa under this scheme, an applicant must:
    1. be citizens of Japan, ordinarily resident in Japan at the time of applying, and
    2. satisfy an NZIS visa or immigration officer that their primary intention is to holiday in New Zealand, with employment being an incidental rather than a primary reason for the visit, and
    3. have a minimum of NZ$4,200 available funds for maintenance during their first 6 months in New Zealand.
  3. Participants in this scheme must not work for the same employer for a period exceeding three months.
  4. Applicants under this scheme must lodge their application in the prescribed manner (E4.45).
