WR2.15 Sponsorship by a New Zealand organisation of national repute

  1. Organisations of national repute wishing to sponsor applicants who have exceptional talent in a declared field of art, culture or sport must complete the NZIS Talent (Arts, Culture and Sports) Sponsorship Form.
  2. Completion of the form includes:
    1. a statement of support for the application for a work visa or permit under the Talent (Arts, Culture or Sports) Work Policy, and
    2. the reasons why the organisation considers that the applicant's presence in New Zealand will enhance the quality of New Zealand's accomplishments and participation in the declared field of art, culture or sport; and
    3. a personal undertaking from a person eligible to make such an undertaking, (see WR2.15.1 below) to meet the applicant's requirements for maintenance, accommodation and repatriation if necessary.
  3. The form should be accompanied by information, evidence and submissions which demonstrate that the sponsoring organisation is an organisation of national repute.
  4. The NZIS may request evidence that the person giving the undertakings set out at (b)(iii) above is able to meet the undertakings to provide maintenance, accommodation and repatriation if necessary for the duration of the work permit.

WR2.15.1 Eligibility to give personal undertakings of maintenance, accommodation and repatriation if necessary

A person giving the personal undertakings set out at WR2.15 (b)(iii) above must:

  1. be in New Zealand; and
  2. be a New Zealand or Australian citizen or the holder of a current residence permit that is not subject to requirements under s18A of the Immigration Act 1987; and
  3. have been a New Zealand or Australian citizen and/or the holder of a residence permit or a returning resident's visa for at least three years immediately preceding the date the application under the Talent (Arts, Culture and Sports) Work Policy is made; and
  4. in each of the three 12 month portions within that three year period, have spent a total of 184 days or more in New Zealand.
