V3.75 Department of Conservation Volunteers

  1. Volunteers participating in the Department of Conservation's 'Conservation Volunteer' programme are not considered to be undertaking employment and may be issued with a standard visitor's visa or granted a standard visitor's permit.

    Note: The Department of Conservation may provide sponsorship by completing a Sponsorship Form for Visiting New Zealand.

  2. V3.75(a) above does not apply to persons from overseas who wish to undertake training attachments in New Zealand as part of their studies (see U4.20).
  3. Each year, the Department of Conservation must report the following information to the NZIS National Office:
    1. the number of volunteers, and
    2. their length of stay in New Zealand, and
    3. the type of work they are or will be undertaking, and
    4. any significant developments regarding the entry of its volunteers to New Zealand, and
    5. any proposed changes to its volunteer programme.
