C4.20 Refugee claim to be confirmed in writing in the prescribed manner

Immigration Act 1987 s 129G(2)
Immigration (Refugee Processing) Regulations 1999 reg 3

  1. Once a claim is made, the claimant must, on request by a refugee status officer, confirm the claim in writing in the prescribed manner.
  2. A claim for refugee status must be:
    1. lodged in writing using the approved form Confirmation of Claim to Refugee Status in New Zealand; and
    2. completed in English; and
    3. signed by the claimant; and
    4. accompanied by:
      • the name of any representative; and
      • a street address, as well as a facsimile number, if appropriate, at which the claimant may be contacted; and
      • a current residential address for the claimant.
