W2.5 Work policy criteria (26/07/1999)
  1. To be issued with a work visa or granted a work permit, applicants must:
    1. produce an offer of employment and a supporting case from an employer showing why it is not possible to employ a suitable New Zealand resident as specified at W2.10, or the requirements specified for any one of the special categories listed in W3 and W4, or
    2. meet the requirements specified for one of the work schemes listed at W5, or
    3. meet the requirements specified for one of the working holiday schemes listed at W6.
  2. All applicants must meet the requirements under Generic Temporary Entry policy for:
    1. lodging an application for a temporary entry visa or permit as set out at E4, and
    2. bona fide applicants as set out at E5, and
    3. health and character as set out at E6.
  3. All people wishing to work in New Zealand as an employee must be paid the appropriate adult or youth minimum wage.

    Note: This includes students wishing to work in New Zealand.
