WR4.5 Employability requirements (21/11/2002)

This provision ceases to be effective from 01/07/2003

  1. Applicants must be qualified to obtain employment in New Zealand in an area of current occupational shortage (see WR4.5.1 below).
  2. Applicants are considered to be qualified to obtain employment in New Zealand in an area of current occupational shortage if they have been awarded points under the General Skills category policy for a qualification that is required for employment in that occupation.

WR4.5.1 Definition of 'current occupational shortage'

'Current occupational shortage' in the context of this policy means:

  1. The occupation is one that is:
    1. listed on the New Zealand Immigration Service occupational shortages lists that are current on the date that the application for a work visa or permit under this policy is made, and
    2. requires a qualification that would be awarded points under the General Skills category policy.
