W2.30 Onward travel requirements (26/07/1999)

Immigration Act 1987 s 28(1)
Immigration Regulations 1999 reg 21

  1. Applicants for work permits must show evidence of the travel arrangements made to leave New Zealand at the end of their stay, such as:
    1. actual travel tickets (confirmed or open-dated) out of New Zealand to a destination to which the applicant has right of entry, or
    2. if applying on arrival in New Zealand, a work visa endorsed to show that the onward travel requirement has been met or waived, or
    3. written confirmation from an airline or travel agency that onward travel has been booked and paid for, or
    4. sponsorship covering repatriation, which can include a written guarantee of repatriation from the New Zealand employer.
  2. Applicants for work visas must also show the evidence required in paragraph (a) above if requested to do so by a visa officer.
