A8.55 Reasons for refusal to be given and right of complaint to the Ombudsmen

Official Information Act ss19 and 28

If information is withheld:

  1. the reasons why that information has been withheld must be given, with reference to the appropriate section of the Act (a copy of the withheld information must be placed in an envelope and put on the physical file); and
  2. the requestor must also be advised of the right to seek an investigation and review of the refusal by writing to the Ombudsmen.
