A15.25 Delegations under section 141AA of the Immigration Act 1987 - Disclosure of information overseas

The powers of the Chief Executive are detailed under section 141AA of the Immigration Act. Through an instrument of delegation the powers are delegated to the following levels:

Entering into an agreement

The power to enter into an agreement with overseas agencies, bodies, or persons, relates to section 141AA(2)(a) and is delegated to the following position in the New Zealand Immigration Service (NZIS):

  • The General Manager

Disclosing information under an agreement

The power to disclose information pursuant to an agreement (held in sections 141AA(1) and 141AA(2)), is delegated to the following positions in the NZIS:

  • Person or position specified under the agreement

Disclosing information without an agreement

The power to disclose information to an agency in relation to a suspected violation of New Zealand law or violation of a law for which the agency body or person is responsible, as held in section 141AA(8), is delegated to the following positions in the NZIS:

  • General Manager
  • Chief Operating Officer
  • Intelligence Officer
  • Market Managers
  • Service Managers
