N3.15 Processing applications

Immigration Regulations 1999 regs 3 and 8

  1. Before issuing a transit visa, visa officers should sight:
    1. evidence of a fully paid airline ticket or other form of onward travel arrangement, and
    2. a written itinerary from the travel agent or carrier, including relevant arrival and departure times, and
    3. a written statement from the applicant of the purpose of the journey to the destination country or countries.
  2. Transit visas must only be issued to persons whom the visa officer is satisfied have a genuine intention to pass through New Zealand on the way to another destination within 24 hours of their time of arrival.
