This is the charge for Immigration New Zealand to process your application. We do not refund application costs if we decline your application. A non-refundable immigration levy is charged and is included in the cost. An International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD $35 is charged and is included in the cost. We do not refund application costs if we decline your application.

90% of applications are currently completed within this time. This timeframe combines processing times for working holiday visas for all countries. Individual processing times may vary. Timeframes are in calendar days.

COVID-19

Offices temporarily closed

All Immigration New Zealand offices are now closed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Processing of critical or essential visas related to COVID-19 requests for entry to New Zealand are being prioritised based on the direction of the New Zealand Government.

Apply for a Working Holiday Extension

Complete a ‘SSE/WHE Work Visa Application’ form and send it to us with your application fee, immigration levy, and supporting documents.

Payment methods

Credit Card
You can pay with Visa or MasterCard. We take payment when we receive your application. You must have enough funds available on the day we receive your application or it may be returned to you.

Debit Card
You can pay by debit card. We take payment when we receive your application. You must have enough funds available on the day we receive your application or it may be returned to you.

Bank cheque/draft
You can pay by Bank cheque.

Bank cheques should be made payable to the NZ Immigration Service.

Personal cheque
You can pay by personal cheque.

Personal cheques should be addressed to the NZ Immigration Service. If you pay by personal cheque your application will be held for 10 working days to allow the cheque to be cleared. This delay will increase the time needed to assess your application.

If there is anything else you need to do, we will be in touch.

If you are in New Zealand, and your current temporary visa expires before your new visa is granted, we will normally issue you an interim visa to let you stay in New Zealand lawfully.
