Information about Supplementary Seasonal Employer Work Visa

People who are already in New Zealand on a student or visitor visa can make a one-off application for a work visa to do seasonal work in the horticulture or viticulture industries. For the 2020/21season only, people in New Zealand who hold or have held a work visa can also apply (including people who have previously held a SSE visa). You can only apply if there are not enough New Zealanders available to do the work.

  • For the 2020/21 season people who have previously held a TRSE or SSE visa or a work visa since their most recent arrival into NZ are only eligible for an SSE visa until 30 June 2021, whereas other eligible applicants will get either six months or a visa until 30 June 2021, whichever is longer.
