The tool on this page will help you find out which SMC wage threshold applies to you. It does not determine your visa eligibility.

Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa
To use this tool you need:
- The SMC pathway you will apply under (and how many points you are claiming)
- Your hourly pay rate for your current job or job offer in New Zealand
- Information about your skilled work experience in New Zealand, including:
- when you started and finished each role,
- your hourly pay rate
- any pay changes
- The date your work visa was granted
- Your EOI submission date or intended EOI submission date.
- If you change pathways while using this tool, you may need to re-enter your work history. We recommend keeping a copy of your work history details so you can enter them again if needed.
- If you are claiming points for your occupational registration, only enter skilled work experience gained after you received your New Zealand registration.
- If you are applying for the Trades and Technician pathway, only enter skilled work experience gained after you received your qualification.
- If you select the Trades and Technician or Skilled Work Experience pathways, do not enter information about your relevant work experience. The wage threshold applies only to your skilled work experience.
- The tool does not tell you whether you have enough skilled work experience (if required) for the pathway you select.
