Bringing goods into New Zealand
New Zealand prides itself on maintaining a clean-green environment. To avoid contamination, new diseases, insects and pests, New Zealand's Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) enforce the biosecurity policies within New Zealand.
Basic household items and personal goods are required to be inspected by Customs officials on behalf of MPI .

Many items are likely to be examined by New Zealand Customs and, if deemed necessary, de-contaminated. To avoid this process, it's a good idea to thoroughly clean any items that have come into contact with grass, soil, water, vegetation, insects and animals.
