Accredited Employer

If you need to regularly recruit skilled overseas workers, consider becoming an Immigration New Zealand Accredited Employer. While you are accredited you can employ skilled migrant workers without first having to check if any New Zealanders can do the work. You must take direct responsibility for the workers you employ, for their work and you must pay a minimum base salary of NZD $79,560.

Two years

With this option employers can

  • Employ overseas workers for an initial period of up to 30 months to work in your core area of business activity – you don’t have to check if any New Zealanders are available to do the work first.
  • Support your workers’ pathway to residence. Your workers can apply for residence after 24 months of working for you, which if granted would allow them to work and live in New Zealand indefinitely.
  • Support work visa applications for multiple overseas workers while you’re accredited.

Things to note

  • If you applied for accreditation by 30 June 2021 and your application is approved, you can hire new migrants under this scheme until 1 November 2021.
  • From mid-2022, this policy will be replaced by the Accredited Employer Work Visa.
  • The processing times for work to residence visa applications are quicker when supported by an Accredited Employer.
  • You do not need to provide an Employer Supplementary Form in support of your candidates work to residence visa application.
  • You must have direct responsibility for the workers whose visa applications you support and also for their work.
  • You need to meet the accredited employer criteria throughout the whole term of your accreditation.
