Visitor visa process for people affected by the Auckland Airport Fuel Shortage

A number of flights into and out of Auckland have been cancelled due to the temporary shut-down of the pipeline that supplies jet fuel to Auckland Airport. This may impact people who are required to leave New Zealand due to their visa expiring.

Applicants have been advised that if their flight has been cancelled and they are concerned that they may not be able to leave New Zealand before the expiry of their visa, Immigration New Zealand may consider the grant of a further visa as an exception.

Applicants have been advised to email their request for a further visa to ACBtempvisa@mbie.govt.nz using the subject heading ‘Urgent due to flight cancellation’, and provide the following information and attachments:

• Full name, date and place of birth, nationality and passport number;
• A scan of the bio data page of their passport;
• Evidence that that were booked on a flight that has been cancelled (can include domestic connecting flights); and
• New arrangements for leaving New Zealand, if they are available.

In addition if they are travelling with partners or children who are similarly affected, they should include the same information for these applicants in the email.

If a visa is approved, it will be granted electronically and will be emailed to the applicants. The requests will be treated urgently and Immigration New Zealand will try to respond to the requests within one working day.
