Incorrect Employer Conditions on Visa Labels for District Health Boards

There has been some confusion around how to issue a visa label for applicants applying for work visas to work for District Health Boards (DHBs). This has been costly for hospitals, which often face staff shortages and become unable to transfer these staff to different hospitals in the same region.

In some cases, there may be more than one DHB in a region, and the immigration officer must assess the documentation correctly to determine whether or not the visa label must include multiple DHBs on it. This will be stipulated clearly in the job offer letters and the employer supplementary forms (INZ1113). An example of this is the Wellington region, which has the Hutt Valley DHB, the Wairarapa DHB, and the Capital and Coast DHB. In this case, the label should read as “may work as ____ for HVDHB, WDHB, and CCDHB in greater Wellington region”.
