Changes to the Canterbury Skills Shortage List August 2017

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has completed a review of the Canterbury Skill Shortage List (CSSL) and changes will take effect from 14 August 2017. No changes have been made to the occupations on the list. Although labour demand continues to trend downwards, migrants are needed to continue the rebuild.
Some changes have been made to the criteria for using the CSSL b

y making the requirements more generic and including higher level qualifications. This brings the CSSL requirements in line with the Long Term (LTSSL) and Immediate (ISSL) Skill Shortage List requirements which came into effect in February 2017.

The next review of the CSSL is expected to be finalised in early 2018.

The new list can be accessed through the Skill Shortage List Checker from 14 August 2017.
