Presentation on temporary entry partnership options

Earlier this year representatives from the New Zealand Association of Migration and Investment (NZAMI) approached several offshore Immigration New Zealand (INZ) offices seeking advice on their local approach to assessing temporary entry partnership applications. This presented an opportunity for INZ to communicate our consistent approach to these applications.

The attached presentation results from a process of INZ office consultation led by Market Manager Marcelle Foley. The Visa Services Operations Support team, including Bruce Jenkins, has been actively involved in this process. Thank you to all those who have contributed.

Slide 10 provides advice on a scenario where a client in a relationship with a New Zealand citizen or resident, who knows their situation will not meet partnership requirements (as defined in immigration instructions), wishes to make a general visitor visa application. Please ensure that clients who know their situation will not meet partnership requirements are not told that they must make a partnership application before we will consider granting a different type of visa.

Immigration Officers are reminded that IAC13-09 provides advice on assessing the ‘bona fide applicant’ criteria.
