Label-less visa (E-visa) – transfer/replace and confirmation

Transfer /or replace of a label-less visa into a new passport or certificate of identity

Label-less visas are now available to a range of visa applicants.  A customer who has a label-less visa will not have a physical label in their passport but the visa label in AMS records a passport number.  There may be instances where a client’s travel document has been lost, stolen, damaged or expired and they want to inform Immigration New Zealand they have a new passport and ensure their visa is valid.

Where the person has a label-less visa and wants that visa transferred to their new passport, a form and fee is not required.  If you receive the Application for Transfer of Confirmation of a Visa form (INZ 1023) and fee you should retain the form and the fee must be refunded or not processed.

Customers can be encouraged to complete the Application for Transfer or Confirmation of a Visa form but you cannot enforce this requirement.

The “Transfer an eVisa to a new travel document” process in the Global Process manual is currently being updated.

Confirmation of immigration status – requesting physical label

If a label-less holder requests a physical visa label then they must complete the Application for Transfer of Confirmation of Visa form (INZ 1023) and pay the prescribed fee.

Please discuss this with staff and ensure that fees are charged only where prescribed.
