WS6 Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Workers

It appears that some Visa Services staff may be requesting a Work Visa Application Form (INZ1015) from applicants who have applied for a Specific Purpose work visa under instructions WS6 (Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Workers) when the correct Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Personnel Work Visa Application Form (INZ 1187) has already been provided. In some cases staff are recommending them to apply for a Work to Residence Talent (Accredited Employer) work visa.

Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Personnel Work Visa Application Form (INZ1187)

An Entertainment industry worker can make an application for a Specific Purpose work visa as referred to in instructions WS2(h) if they meet the evidential and other requirements set out in instructions WS6. These requirements include a Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Personnel Work Visa Application Form (INZ1187). The employer, production company or promoter must complete the accompanying Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Work Visa Application Supplementary Form, which is included in the INZ1187 form.

These applications are assessed under temporary-entry Specific Purpose or Event instructions but do not require a Work Visa Application Form (INZ1015), only an INZ1187 form. It is also important to note that these applications do not create a pathway to residence; therefore, they do not have a minimum salary or age requirement. Although the employer may hold accreditation relevant to Work to Residence Talent instructions, they can also utilise this accreditation under instructions WS6 as per the note under WS6.15.

Action

  • Please ensure staff familiarise themselves with WS6 Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry instructions.
  • Please discuss the above with your local Visa Application Centres (VACs). The correct grounds code to lodge applications made on an INZ1187 form is: AADALG - Visa, Work, Entertainers and Associated Workers.
