Assessing fees for ITA letters

Christchurch Area Office has reported receiving a number of residence applications with the incorrect application fee. On checking, they found that the incorrect fee was given to the applicant in their Invitation to Apply letter (ITA) as no account was taken of the applicant living outside of New Zealand at the time the application was lodged. This is leading to applications unnecessarily being returned failed lodgements and re-work on applications.

Action

Please ensure to check where an applicant is living when preparing an ITA letter to ensure that the correct application fee is quoted. Refer to the Fees Guide (INZ 1028). The Immigration or Support Officer who is processing the Expression of Interest should assess the fee and, if no longer accurate, manually change the fee in the ITA letter.

A $92 reduction should also be applied to applications where there is a previous Work-to-Residence application.
