Reminder about workers in the entertainment industry

This advice is a reminder about workers in the entertainment industry, specifically Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Workers instructions (WS6). This reminder is to help ensure that visa applications related to the industry are lodged and assessed appropriately

Please be aware that:

  • There are two types of accredited employer:
    • Employers accredited under Talent (Accredited Employers) Work instructions
    • Employers accredited under Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Workers instructions
  • Overseas nationals working for accredited employers in the entertainment industry generally:
    • Qualify for Specific Purpose or Event work visas under Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Workers instructions
    • Do not qualify for Work to Residence work visas under Talent (Accredited Employers) Work instructions
  • The duration of any work visa issued under Performing Artists, Entertainers and Entertainment Industry Workers instructions is to be the period requested by the applicant (WS4(b)(viii)). Often this will be one month beyond the termination of an applicant’s employment.
