Correct recording of Police certificates in AMS

All police certificate information must be accurately entered into AMS for each individual client against their client number.

Background

Not all clients are having their police certificate details recorded against their individual client number. In some cases only month and year are recorded, but the day of the month is omitted.

Failure to correctly record police certificates in AMS can result in:

  • unnecessary certificates being requested from the client,
  • inaccurate records on individual applicants,
  • inaccuracies when future proofing for the organisation and poor Quality results.

Furthermore, failure to record police certificates in AMS may result in reallocation of resources based on incorrect information in AMS, delays in processing and requests under Section 61.

Action

Officers are required to complete the police certificate screen in AMS completely with day, month and year of issue.

The AMS manual describes the process of creating a character certificate and information required to put into AMS (Character Certificates).
