Personal details on a visa or endorsement must match the holder’s passport

A passport establishes the identity and nationality of the holder. It is essential that the personal details on any visa or endorsement issued are an exact match to those in the holder’s passport.

Sometimes there are instances when a client changes their name and requests that a visa or endorsement be issued in their passport under a different name. Clients in this situation should be advised to obtain a new passport with the correct personal details before any visa or endorsement may be issued.

The visa or endorsement will not be recognised at check-in or at the Border if the personal details do not match those held in the passport.

Action

Staff must not issue a visa or endorsement with personal details on the label that do not match those in the passport.
