Residence and onshore temporary decline letters

Action required:  Ensure decline letters for all residence and onshore temporary applications are sent to the physical address of the applicant or advisor (not by email only).

Previous advice has clarified that Immigration Officers must send a hard copy of all residence and onshore temporary decline letters to the physical address of the applicant or adviser.
A copy of the decline letter can be sent via email for customer services reasons; however the Act requires the decision to be given in writing by personal service or registered post to the person’s physical address.

Immigration Officers do not need to provide a hard copy of the Immigration Protection Tribunal (IPT) appeal forms with the letter but must provide the link to the IPT website which is standard text in residence decline letters.

All other forms of communication can be made electronically.

Please ensure a hard copy of the decline letter for all residence and onshore temporary applications are sent to the physical address of the applicant or advisor.
