Owners and crew of super yachts instruction V3.81

V3.81 instruction is to encourage owners and crew of super yachts to visit New Zealand (NZ).
Instruction V3.81 states that owners and crew of super yachts are not considered to be undertaking employment and may be granted a visitor visa allowing multiple entry and an initial stay of up to six months.

Some INZ offices have asked whether, similar to V3.80, crew and owners must arrive in New Zealand on the super yacht to be considered for a visitor visa.

Summary

Owners or crew of super yachts can apply offshore and be granted a visitor visa provided they satisfy the immigration officer (IO) of their bona fide for entering NZ as the owner of, or crew, on a super yacht that is, or will be, in NZ. The IO should note in the approval letter/label conditions that the person can work on the yacht only during their visit.
