New University Transfer Programmes offered by UCIC

The University of Canterbury (UC) has entered into an agreement with the Christchurch Institute of Business and Technology (CIBT), allowing CIBT to offer university transfer programmes under the name of UC International College (UCIC). CIBT is a registered PTE (wholly owned by the Australian education provider Navitas) that has been accredited to provide two programmes on behalf of UC.

  • University Transfer Programme: Commerce (level 5)
  • University Transfer Programme: Engineering (level 5)

These programmes, which will take one academic year to complete, will allow successful students to progress on to the second year of the appropriate Bachelor degree at UC.

CIBT, trading as UCIC, is commencing its first intake for the University Transfer Programme: Commerce students on October 24 this year, and the University Transfer Programme: Engineering in March 2014. Students will be provided with an offer of place to the transfer programme and a conditional offer of place to the appropriate Bachelor or Honours degree.

Students with such offers of place, who meet the student visa requirements, may be granted visas valid until March 31 of the following year, as per U6.30. This will provide enough time for successful students to apply for further visas to study the relevant degree at UC.

Please advise officers of this to ensure that applications are not returned failed, or delayed in processing
