Checking your application status

Once you have submitted your visa application you can find out the status of your application by using the information below.

If you applied for a visa using Online Services

If you've applied for a Working Holiday Visa, a Silver Fern Job Search Work Visa, or submitted an expression of interest for the Skilled Migrant Category online, you will already have an Online Services account. You can use the login for this account to check the status of your application. Simply log in to your account, then select 'My application' from the middle of the page. Once you've selected this, your application status will display.

If you applied for a visa using Immigration Online

If you have submitted a student visa, work visa or visitor visa application through Immigration Online then you will be able to see that your application has been submitted by logging into your RealMe account. To get a more detailed update on the status of your application you can contact us.

To find out the status of a non-online application, contact the Immigration Contact Centre for assistance.

If you used an immigration adviser

If you're using an immigration adviser you should get in touch with them to find out the status of your application.

If you have applied outside New Zealand at a Visa Application Centre (VAC)

You may also be able to check the location of your application (or passport) and see whether documents are ready for collection or dispatch by using the VAC provider’s online tracking system.
